Can't reconnect

I've got a 56K modem. Remember those? I can connect ok the first
time. But if I go offline, I cannot reconnect. I get Error 691. --
Access denied b/c username or password invalid on domain.

Silly.

If I reboot and connect, it goes through fine.

Is this something to do with the April or May updates? Could it
possibly be an error on my end? My ISP is a university. Could they
be up to something?

most likely is that you're not properly disconnected from the server.
try unplugging the modem from the line for a few seconds rather than
rebooting - does that also cure the problem?
If so, then it's likely that you're either not hanging up, or not
disconnecting.... so when you try and log in again, the system sees you as
still being logged in -so kicks you out.
