Can't reinstall Flash Player

After following Andre DaCosta's reply to my 12/6 posting - Can't open SWF
files - I'm not able to re-install flash player. Refer to my reply to Andre.
Any suggestions?

Did you follow his instructions in the above link before trying to re-install?

I restored my computer to the last good day and followed instructions more
carefully. This time I was able to install Flash Player. However, although
I can run programs that require the Flash Player - I still can't open *.swf
programs even though I downloaded the latest Shockwave Player. Guess I'll
have to go to Adobe for some tech support on this problem!
