Can't run Matlab on Win Vista

Hi !

I was using Matlab 6.5 on my old Computer with Win XP. A week ago I've
bought a new HP laptop with Vista. Can't run Matlab anymore. Think it's
highly unfair that Vista isn't compatible with XP. The prog installs properly
but when I try to start it it says:

"License Manager Error
Terminal Server Remote Client not allowed
FLEXlm Error -103,577 ..."

Matlab has a service called matlabserver. I can't start it in services
window.It says "Error 1067 ..."

tried to run Matlab shortcut with admin rights - no use
Tried to change windows theme to standard windows - no use

Have you got any ideas ?
I'm very sory I've bought my new pc with Vista. Matlab is a very expensive
tool and I can't aford buying a new ver.

You mean to tell me that you didn't research whether your very expensive
program would work on the Vista operating system *before* you bought a
computer with Vista preinstalled? Your options:

1. Return the computer and purchase one running XP. They are still
available.
2. Contact Matlab tech support to see about Vista support.

Release 2007b is stated to run on Vista:

1. The solution with license.dat file didn't do it i still get "terminal
server client not allowed"

2. I know that R2007b supports Vista but on the contrary you can say that
Vista doesn't support R13 (6.5)

3. No I didn't check it and yeah that is my fault. I always thought that
operating systems are for programs not the other way.

4. I think that Vista is blocking some kind of terminal services. Is there a
way to find out what is going on?

Trying to solve some boundary problems? Here you will have to workaround a
different boundary: to draw a line on and idiot and impersonator Malke.

Those were your initial conditions.

Error 1067 means "The process terminated unexpectedly."

My, and I restate my hunch, is that you perhaps copied the directory with
MatLab from your XP to which this idiot and impersonator Malke is advising
you to go back and are trying to run the executable.

You MUST download the original zip from MatLab and INSTALL it. It WILL work.

Good luck with your boundary problems. I envy you.

Or you might just check and see if you can enable the terminal
server service: control panel->system and maintenance->system, then on the
system page open the remote settings by clicking it (its on the left).
Enable Allow Connections From computers Running Any Version Of...

You'll have to allow flexlm to run as administrator.

The deal is that flexlm is the standard license management
deamon ALL these high end programs (like DRAC, Frame, and so on) use
and have used for decades. It's a demon in the unix paradigm, a program
that listens on a socket and handles data. From your error it seems that
Vista is treating connection attempts as remote desktop accesses, and
since remote desktop is disabled by default that might be the problem.

Also, despite Malke the MVP being trite and nasty he does have
a point: Matlab support proably has something useful to say although that
might very well be "run linux" .
