Hi, all, hoping someone can help with this one. I have 2 WindowsXP pro
machines and one win98 se machine networked. The win98 machine has a second
drive that houses the data and shared folders. All has worked well until
recently. Now when one of the winXP machines wants to save a new file I get
a, 'network inaccessible error, you may not have permission.....'.
I can save and overwrite a file, I can choose save as and keep the same file
name, but I can't choose save as and name the file something else. Oh, and I
can also save the file to the desktop and copy it to the shared folder
without error.
This problem was told to me about 2wks ago. It seems to fall in line with a
WinXP security update. The bandaid solution was to do a
System Restore, going back to Feb 1 and all started working as it should, but
like I say, that's not a fix it's just a bandaid.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

"B_All",

Please try using filemon.exe to narrow down the problem you are running
into. It is available free from a 3rd party, at
http://www.sysinternals.com. You can filter out everything else that is
occurring and find out where you are failing.

Sincerely,
