Can't see menu in VM

I installed Windows 7 in Virtual PC and in the Display settings have
unchecked full-screen mode and Hide menu bar check boxes and the window
resizing option is set to Use guest os screen resolution.

But when I run the virtual machine it opens in full screen and the menu bar
does not appear - I can't therefore install Hardware Virtualization.

Is there some way to make the vm open in a separate window and also access
the menu bar?

Would appreciate any help.

Right alt plus Enter keys pressed simultaneously should reduce the screen.
Press them again to go full screen or use the setting under Action on the
menu bar. I have the same settings for Vista Ultimate machine and I don't
know why sometimes it starts in full mode and I don't see the logon screen
(just a full black screen) after it finishes booting. I use the right alt +
enter keys and that brings up the login screen with the menu bar at the top.
Other times, it boots in reduced screen mode. You may see both the guest
machine and host taskbars when it first goes to full screen. If that happens
click on the host's task bar icon for VPC. That should give you only the
task bar for the guest in full screen mode.
