Woody - I saw your other post too about Mc giving you the info to set the
program access in your firewall and can help with that . . . but you have to
be willing to try it ;-) Go slow, and position / size this message window
and the Mc window side-by-side so you can easily see and follow these
directions - they are step-by-step.
Can you take the first step? Open the Mc software by clicking the "M" icon
in the lower right of your screen - where the time is - double click it.
When Mc SecurityCenter opens, you are looking for the "Configure" menu - on
the left, near the bottom - click "Configure" once to open that menu (opens
above). Then, in the "Configure" menu click on "Internet & Network". Now,
in the right pane, the 2nd item is "Firewall protection is enabled" and the
"On" button is selected. There's an "Advanced" button there - click it.
Another window pops opens and on the left side you will see "Program
Permissions" - click it.
Okay, now you will see all your programs in the right pane. Scroll down and
find Windows Live Mail (near bottom - they are listed alphabetically) -
click it (highlights). It should say "Full Access" in green beside it, but
once highlighted you will see info about the access for that program in the
bottom portion of the pane, part of which is an "Action" box where you can
change the access level if needed to "Allow Access" (in the event your does
not say "Full Access"). You should also look at "Internet Explorer" in that
"Programs Permissions" list and ensure it also has "Full Access".
If these programs are not listed - notice there are two buttons in between
the two right side window panes that read "Add Allowed Program" and "Add
Blocked Program". All of your programs should be in that "Program
Permissions" list but these are the buttons to add or block some other
program if you need to. Did Mc tell you a program to verify (like I just
directed you to look at Windows Live Mail and Internet Explorer)? If you
have to use the "Add" button, it will open up a Windows Explorer window
where you will have to navigate to the "Program Files" folder on your C:
drive to select it.
Please post back - like you said this is the most help you will get - and it
is free!!
