can't send or recieve

Number: 0x800CCC18

I have windows vista and use trend micro antivirus and webroot spy sweeper
above is the error message i get. was online yesterday with verzon setting up
account he finally got it to work and after we hung up it worked on and off
and finally not at all

There are three possibilities for this error. Try them in this order:

a. You may need to unselect SPA: Go to Tools, Accounts,
select the mail account, Properties, Servers, uncheck the box
for "Log on using secure password authentication."
b. Be sure to configure your antivirus NOT to scan emails.
c. If neither of the above fixes the problem, you may need to
uninstall SpySweeper. We have some reports that it is not
compatible with Windows Mail.
