Hello,
Still trying to sign into WLM, as I use XP I thought I'd try something
different. I logged off my ID and logged onto my husbands ID, then fired up
the WLM with the same username/password as I've been trying with my XP ID.
Connected right away!!

Now... what could be preventing me from signing on from my XP ID??

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Sheri

Greetings,

To try and fix this problem, go to start, run,

type %userprofile%/contacts/

If you see your "XP ID", right click it, and select Delete

Then, try to signon to Windows Live Messenger again with your XP ID, tell me
if that works for you.

WOW!!!! You are amazing! tytyty!
When I did what you said I noticed it opened a notepad file(???) and on it
were what looked like names from some address book.
I went over to my husbands ID and saw that it opened up a folder instead..
which was btw, empty. So back to my ID and I deleted the notepad file and
made a new folder named contacts and WaaLaa.. It works it works!!
I am very grateful for your help.

Thanks kindly,
Sheri :-)

this hasn't helped me at all. my little men are still spinning & it's been at
least a week since I could sign in to WLM.

I use ZoneAlarm but have dl-ed the latest updates.

I tried the fix mentioned here.

I even tried re-installing WLM.

annoying is a bit of an understatement.
