I have an network sienna pc with intel celeron 2.80GHZ and OS is windows xp
pro sp3. The system has "download updates for me, but let me chose when to
install them" enabled.
I saw a few updates to install and install 14 updates than I get "your
computer needs to be restarted for the updates to take effect". when I booted
the pc would not restart, even in safe mode or can't get to boot menu with
f8. just hangs on a black screen and restart again and again.
Please help

determine which specific update to avoid. try to install update one by one
and restart the computer efter each one of the update. Efter kb968389 I get
the same problem PC hangs on on a black screen and restart again and again.
can kb968389 is causing a problem?. I did complet system recovery again.
Any advie or comment

Hello Elsi,

Staяt a help ticket.

Help and Support

<http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx?rdpath=1&gprid=9860>

OR

I'd яecommend calling 1-866-pcsafety if you are in the U.S. or Canada.

Elsewhere, call your local Microsoft subsidiary, or the number for paid
support in your locale--and ask for the free help with security-patch related
issues.

Assuming "system recovery" means "System Restore"...

Never, EVER use System Restore to "undo" an update!!!

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB968389).

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.
