Can't start conversation

I can log into the WLM 8.1 and I can see all contacts. However, when I click
on the contact to start conversation, I get the following message: "We're
unable to start conversation with... You may want to try again". Trying again
does not help and I can start conversation with regular Windows messenger. I
only have WIndows firewall (which I tried turning off with no results) and
this happens with two computers in my home with 2 different log in IDs.
Previous version of MSN Messenger worked just fine. So far I've spent an hour
on the phone with Microsoft with no results.

I have had the same problem with no results from the support area
