Since I upgraded to SP2 (home) I keep getting booted off the internet every
few minutes, and need to reset cable modem to reestablish connection.
Comcast was no help
thankls for any help you can offer

i have the same problem, im using xp pro, since i've installed xp sp2 my pc
keep getting booted off the internet, even though i have adsl connection and
never had any problem with win2000 pro
still trying to fix the problem

When you can't connect, go to a command prompt and type:

ipconfig /all

Do you have an IP address? Is it 169.x.x.x.? If not, can you ping the
default gateway IP? Can you ping your DNS server?

Hi there,

I am having a similar problem with my Comcast HSI. After SP2 auto install
my connection became intermittent (instead of getting kicked off, the
connection would be sometimes on and sometimes off when I turned on the PC,
and it stays that way until i restart PC again; resetting modem did not help.)

The IP address is always 169.x.x.x like docrob7 said. So what's the
solution to this??? I've installed all the updates from MS and now I even
uninstalled SP2 (as the Comcast tech suggested... probably bad move, huh..),
but it's still the same problem. PLEASE HELP!!!!
