i can't stop automatic updates

i'm the administrator. but how come my automatic update tab is greyed out? i
want to uncheck the auto update.

pls help me.

Would be good for you to specify what your Windows version is.
I'm guessing XP. From Start menu, select RUN.
Type in

services.msc <Enter-key>

Look at Services Tab. Scroll list as needed. See what it says for Automatic Updates & what it shows for Status & Startup type.

By any chance, have you disabled some Windows services?
