Can't Sync on other computers

Hi, I have a HP 3100. Using Active Sync 3.8

I had all my Palm files converted to Outlook files so I could transfer
data to the new PC device. Those files were on computer #1.

I rarely use #1. It is at home too.

I installed ActiveSync on computer #2. It works flawlessly and this is
my home system.

I wanted to install and be able to sync at the office so that my staff
can adjust my calendar appointments. MAJOR PROBLEMS.

I tried this on two e-machine computers. ActiveSync downloads and
installs. I am running into some sort of brick wall. Either message
comes that I can not connect, the USB device is not recognized or tries
to set up a guest account. In any event, there is no successfull
synchronization or partnership recognized. I am getting lots of beeps
and attempts to connect.

If I see this correctly, I would presume computer information is
installed on the PDA informing it what computer it is looking for. Is
is possible this data is blocking my access at the office machine. I
also tried to install/reinstall the software. Same thing happens on two
computers, so I am resolving this as an ActiveSync issue, not a PDA or
computer problem.

Any help here would be appreciated. My staff is getting frustrated with
my appointment schedule.

Nope, nothing on the Pocket PC will block connection.

First thing to check is that you're not using a USB HUB - connect the cable
directly to a USB port on your computer.

Next thing is personal firewall software. Zone Alarm must be set to medium,
Norton IS and Windows XP SP2 built-in firewall will need allow rules to let
ActiveSync work properly.

Also, make sure you install ActiveSync BEFORE you plug the cable or place
the Pocket PC in the cradle.

Make sure you soft reset the Pocket PC and that it has some memory
available. You might want to open Pocket Internet Explorer if you use it and
tap Tools | Options and tap the Delete Files button to clear the cache and
free up some memory.

Thank you for the reply.

Direct connection to USB, no hub.

All computers have no Norton software and no firewall activated as far
as I am aware. My computers are behind corporate firewall.

What is zone alarm?

I have about 10MB memory free on the PPC and a 512 memory which has one
back up on it.

Yes, I tried to do soft reset during this period.

Interestingly, the first time I tried this one computer came up with a
partnership menu which asked me if I wanted to delete a previous
partnership. I thought I selected that, but it seems after that there
was very little success. In fact, the USB connection when tried
initiates a blinking screen on the PPC. All computers have XP running
on them by the way (3 professional, 1 home).

Any more ideas please?
