Can't sync w/ Exchange Activesync through my desktop

I have started using Exchange Activesync w/ my Treo 700w running Windows
Mobile 5. Syncing against Exchange through the data connection from my
wireless provider works great. However, when I plug the phone into my
computer I cannot sync w/ Exchange and get a connection problem error message.

Here is a run down of some surrounding information that might help someone
give me some direction:
* Setting up the options for syncing w/ Exchange through Activesync on my
computer is not a problem. I enter the server information, my user name, and
passoword. It accepts the information and let me choose what items I want to
sync off of the server.
* The server settings I enter in Activesync along w/ user name and password
are the same that are succesfully used on my phone to sync w/ Exchange when
not connected to my computer.
* Accessing our webmail server, the server through which I sync w/
Exchange, works fine when accessing OWA while connected to my company's
internal network.

Any thoughts on why it works when on my phone when not connected to my
desktop, why accessing OWA works on my desktop, why I can setup the folders
for Exchange Activesync, but why I get continual connection errors when
trying to sync through Activesync installed on my desktop?

Thanks,

Hutch

I am running ActiveSync 4.1 and have not had any prior version installed on
my computer.

I do not think it is a firewall issue since I can access the web services on
that server through my browser w/o any problems. In addition, I can run
through the setup of entering the server, user name, and password having it
accept that information and letting me choose what folders on the server I
want to sync.

Any other thoughts?

Hi,
If you use a proxy or firewall in your network to secure it from the
internet, this can prevent ActiveSync from providing the proxy capabilities
to your Pocket PC.

Question? How did you get the 700W to sync wirelessly. I can not get it to
work on either the desktop or the wireless connections. Can you shed some
light on the wireless connection? Any direction would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Josiah

If you mean 'sync with my desktop PC, as opposed to Exchange Server', you
can't. ActiveSync no longer supports WiFi sync, anyway. You can use
Bluetooth, if you have it. The device can use wireless networking to
connect to Exchange Server.
