Hi guys,

This morning when i signed into windows live messenger it said that there is
a new version, so i clicked on "Get It" the installation took its time with
installing and as soon as it gets to "100% Complete" it just start Rolling
Back!!! so i am unable to Install the updates...

i downloaded the 2009 BETA release when they were available couple of months
ago, and now i guess there is an update but i am not able to install them...

i tried to re-sign to my current 2009 BETA but it keeps saying the service
is temporarily unavailable, so i can't sign in....

i tried to uninstall this BETA but before it finish the uninstallation it
just Roll Back and gives me an error!!!

What is exactly going on??
i can't sign back in and i can't install anything new!!??
how can i fix that???

Please help me guys...

Same here, same sequence of events (XP SP3 here) and can't uninstall, login
etc. Time for a third-party 'cleaner'?

Greetings,

If it's rolling back then it's encountering an error with one of the components. The easiest
thing to do would be to just manually uninstall each and see which one fails.

A list of each beta component and how to uninstall each can be found here:
http://messengergeek.spaces.live.com...BDA1!868.entry

Basically I suggest you just go through the list until you find the one that fails and you
should hopefully receive the true error.

Here's what I had to do in order to fix the same problem you had, Doc.

http://www.groovypost.com/howto/geek...c-failure-fix/

I believe the above link now goes to an installer that has the 'current
release' version.

1. Run the custom setup found at the ms url above;
2. Uninstall all Live apps in Add-Remove (not all will uninstall);
3. Remove all other Live apps with the Windows Install Cleanup program;
4. Run a check on your registry to remove the stuff left over, or run
ZapMessenger;
5. Reboot;
6. Run the custom setup program as in step 1, full install successful.

HTH.
