When I try going onto Windows Update, I get the IE Info bar on top and the
page tells me to "allow blocked content" but on right clicking the bar all I
get is "Information Bar Help"... No options for allowing the said activex.
I've added windowsupdate and microsoft sites into my trusted list, lowered
the security settings, disabled XP firewall, but nuthing works..
Help

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, "Security" Tab, click "Internet",
"Custom Level" button. Locate the 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins' category.
Enable the 'Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins', and enable the 'Script ActiveX controls marked
as safe for scripting'

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, "Security" Tab, click "Internet",
"Custom Level" button. Reset to "Medium", click the "Reset" button and "OK" your way out.

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, "Security" Tab, click "Trusted sites",
"Custom Level" button. Reset to "Low", click the "Reset" button and "OK" your way out.

Thanks Unk, for you reply. But I've already done what you said and even did
it again but no go. What surprises is that on most other sites, the IE Info
Bar at least provides the 'Run active content' as an option on right
clicking. On Windowsupdate, all the right click menu provides is 'Info Bar
Help'.

Try this:
Windows Update Troubleshooter
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

1. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Connections, click LAN
Settings. Uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings" and "Use Automatic configuration script"

2. Also in the Internet options, General tab, click the "Delete files" Button, to Clear all
temp files, including off-line content, click the "Delete Cookies..." button.
