can't update with domain admin

I have a member server (win 2003 standard). for some reason it keeps give me
an error of un authorized when I try to update it from windows update web
site (I am trying with the Admin of the domain). but it is ok if I am using
the admin of that machine. what can be wrong?
the domain admin is part of the local admin.
