when i click on windows update it takes me to teh site,
and says
Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software...

Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During this
time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each security
warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click
Install or Yes to install the software.
i wait and nothgin hapends, please help. aslo i cant go to install updates
or view installtion history , as it is diselected not accesible. help

ok tahnks i got it , i read another post here and i fixed it

The problem will be solved by registering 5 DLL's. Do the following at the
RUN prompt and then reboot:

REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\atl.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll

Click the START button.
-Click the RUN selection.
--Type "regsvr32 wuapi.dll" (without the quotes) in the box. Click OK.
---You should receive a popup box indicating success. Click OK.
Repeat for each of the four remaining .DLL files and then reboot.

Not everyone is having problems, and not all problems are extreme, but the
problems do seem to have an extreme variety to them. It's the old "Your Mileage
May Vary" routine.
Personally, because of the many different problems popping up, I would wait
until things calm down. If you monitor this newsgroup you'll know when some
resemblence of 'normalcy' returns. At that point the majority of the problems
should have known, working fixes, and any troubles encountered would have better
troubleshooting and correction procedures. So, yes, I would suggest waiting a
little while, if possible...just in case....
