Can't update office patches from WSUS

We use an admin install version of office XP SP2. Most clients install
office updates fine from WSUS server, a few don't (but these do install OS
patches ok). Have tried deinstalling office, reinstalling from admin point,
reapplying SP3 and issuing wuauclt.exe /detectnow. The windowsupdate log
indicates that no updates are required but if I go to
www.microsoft.com/office , office updates, it finds many that *can* be
applied.

Any ideas?

That would happen if you were using the WU instead of the MU agent.
