Can't Update - win98

When I contact the update centre I get this error message:

Windows Update Error


Windows Update has encountered an error. This may be due to a discrepancy in
your computer's time setting.

To check your date and time setting:

On the taskbar, double-click the time.
Verify that the date and time is correct

I check the clock at it's fine???

check with microsost they may have stopped downloading updates
for win 98 I know they were talking about it. you may have to
think about a newer computer

The Windows 98 updates are still available and will continue to be for the
foreseeable future.
Once a product reaches the end of lifecycle, no more updates are created but
existing updates continue to be available for a time:
