CAN'T UPDATE WINDOWS HELP!

I formatted my computer a few weeks ago. I was downloading the automatic
updates, and i think something went wrong. Now, when i go to Update Windows
from the update page, it says "Checking for the latest version of Windows
Update Software" and then :

Windows Update Error


Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.

What can i do to make the updates work?
