cant update to xp home edition sp2

hi when i try to update my pc to service pack 2, when extracting the files to
start the update i get an error message "data error cyclic redundancy check"
right at the end of extracting the files and cannot update to windows xp sp2
from disk

A CRC means your drive isn't able to read part of the disc. This is usually caused by
a dirty or scratched disc, a bad factory original, dust on the laser lens, a failing
drive or a poorly burned copy.
