CAPICOM security update

Just curious... I have WinXP Home on my desktop computer and WinXP Pro on my
laptop, both SP3. I've installed the same software on both machines. This
week's Patch Tuesday updates for the laptop included "Security Update for
CAPICOM (KB931906)," but the updates for the desktop didn't. I Googled
CAPICOM, and it looks like something to be used by application developers.
Any idea of why I would be getting an update for it on one computer but not
the other?

Thank you!

Jo-Anne

Because only the laptop has software installed that uses CAPICOM. Likely this
is software related to a device that only the laptop has, e.g., the touchpad or
the battery.

Thank you, Harry! I hadn't even thought of devices unique to the laptop...
