There are some icons on the task bar I would like to delete, Caps Lock
Off and Scrowl Lock Off. Help, please.

Those indicators are probably set by your specific keyboard's settings.
Check the options for your particular keyboard (should be in Control Panel)
as to whether you can turn on/off the indicators....

I have no indicators on my Task bar as you describe; this suggests it is
probably a specific issue to your keyboard & system rather than to Vista
itself. My keyboard driver/software (MS IntelliType) does show brief popup
messages when I press the caps-lock/num-lock/scroll-lock/F-Lock keys that
briefly show the status on/off of those keys (keyboard is the Microsoft
Wireless 3000), but nothing on the actual task bar. It also has the option
to turn off the on-screen alerts. Maybe your keyboard options have a
similar option.

What brand/type is your keyboard?

I was wondering about that myself because I have never seen anything on the
taskbar either. Perhaps it is done by a utility from the computer mfg.

It seems you need to change the accessibility settings of your keyboard. They
will probably contain checkboxes to indicate whether or not icons should
appear in the notification area (system tray) about the current state of
those keys.

Sounds more like Status bar indicators in the Office suite.

Thank you all. I never thought about it's being HP's way of running
things. I've contacted their chat support but they haven't gotten back
to me yet. Not only do they "probably" put those icons on the task
bar, but they also have non-standard keys on both sides of the
keyboard. There was no keyboard info about this subject in this shiny,
new box. I'll post the answer to my problem here. when it's fixed.

Just go to Start Menu/Settings/TaskBar and Start Menu, then click
Notification Are tab, under Icons click Customize. It will open a
dialog box in which you will be able to change settings for those
buttons to "Hide" and they'll disappear
