I posted a question about a problem with kb892130 windows advantage install
problem. a number of people are experiencing the same problem. I went to
site you posted in your reply to biskit. I was able to work through the test
after disabling norton and my active x settings. i then did a windows update
and had another failed installation. Please help!!

I was able to run the test also-
I think the problem might be that the connection to the Microsoft vaildation
server failed.
In the Server Connection Verification screen I get the following message:
1. Server connection test to Microsoft Download Center was successful.

2. Connection to the Microsoft validation servers failed.

question: how do we connect successfully to the Microsoft validation servers?

I had the same problem but then I followed the instructions on the
troubleshooting page. It said to disable any firewall (norton, etc.) and
change security settings for active x to prompt. I did this and was able to
successfully go through the test.

However, I started this series because I then tried to do a windows update
and encountered the SAME problem. The installation failed.

The contents of your DataStore folder may be the problem.

1. Delete the contents of the DataStore folder
2. Click Start.
3. Choose Run.
4. In the Run box, type: %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
5. Click OK.
6. Open the DataStore folder.
7. Delete all contents of the DataStore folder.
8. Close the window.
9. Reboot and revisit the Windows Update web site.
The contents of your DataStore folder may be the problem.

Don't rush the WGA Diagnostic test. I noticed that in the little results
window it almost instantly said:

1. Sever connection test to Microsoft Download Center was successful.
2. Connection to the Microsoft validation servers failed.

BUT: After about 3 or 4 seconds the validation failed changed to validation
was successful.

I'm in the UK so the delay might be round trip time to the USA assuming the
servers are there, or something like that. But if you see failed and click
straight off the test you might not get to see the true result.

Albert.
