I had problem install Windows patches, then I followed KB822798 to fix the
problem, but after I stop cryptsvc service, rename
"%systemroot%\system32\catroot2", then start cryptsvc service, the Catroot2
folder wasn't recreated, checked Windows Event logs but it didn't show
anything wrong. Any idea?

Server is a Windows 2003 Standard, SP2

Many thanks in advance.

Tried Method 4 in KB822798, this folder came back after reboot, then followed
Method 6, 9 & 10, but the SQL2005 SP2 still failed to install.

After this, tried to stop cryptsvc service, rename
"%systemroot%\system32\catroot2", then start cryptsvc service, the Catroot2
is missing again! Do I have to do Method 4 every time I patch this server in
the future?

If the problem is the SQL 2005 update -

Perhaps it might be worth posting/searching here:
