I'm running Vista Ultimate on a 32-bit box, dual core, and I tell you, when
I try to burn files to a CD, pictures and the like, it takes FOREVER! Does
anyone know how to fix this problem? I mean, 58.3MB, 21 items, is taking
over 40 minutes.

I don't have this problem on XP.

Thanks.

Maybe improvements will be made in SP1 for Vista.

Obviously SOMETHING is wrong. It takes me about 7 minutes to burn a
full single sided DVD or roughly 9 times the data you're doing in a
fraction of the time.

1. Does Device Manager complain about your CD drive or hard drives?

2. Type in 'system' after clicking Start, then check if Windows says
any harware is "forced", and confirm you device is SEEN correctly
under the components heading.

3. How is your CD drive configured? On a seperate channel or as a
slave?

4. Is it seen correctly in BIOS?

What do you mean "and the like?" Are you just burning or are you
trying to make a data disc that may require the media be foramtted.

Give specifics.

I am having similar problem running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I
tried to burn some pictures to DVD using Windows explorer and the
estimated time was about 3 hours. That is unacceptable! If I use a
separate software like nero, it burns in 10-20 mins. What's wrong with
Vista?
