The CD drive

I have noticed that many users, including me, found the CD drives missing
after installing XP service pack 2. Upon reinstalling, some configurational
data is removed. We were prompted for inserting installation CDs, but this is
not possible. This has caused much inconvenience. Please give us proper
solutions and point out the error (if any) in XP SP2 soon.
