Hi,
a) Try a lens cleaner disk, it may simply be clogged. If this fails but the
drive appears to operate normally otherwise, it is likely that it needs to
be replaced.
b) Do you see the drive listed in Windows Explorer? If it's not listed and
you have not made any changes, follow the steps here:

c) Is the drive enumerated in the system BIOS? If not, a connection may have
come loose or the drive has failed, necessitating replacement.
