Hey, i've had this problem for 2 days pretty much soli
CD/DVD drive not showing / registering and blatently just not workin
although it will open and close
what i have found is after many swearwords.. and trolling forums afte
attempting to colour code my cases, ( nothing worse than a cream dv
drive in a black case
Firstly with the Vista Machin
basically added 1 and failed miserably didnt register at all
to get the cd / dvd to register after a swap out, i added another c
drive, so thats 2 both on a single ide cabl
in bios set the ide config to auto for both primary and slave, ensurin
all wires are in correctly and the jumper cable on the back is set t
cable select for both
Miraculously it worked regardless of the efforts i have tried elsewhere
IT HAPPENED AGAIN with my win7 machine
so again tried it as a single, didnt even register, added another spare
reboot they both showed in bios and are currently working on th
machine
after they have been identified you can then take the spare / unuse
back out and the other will still show
Hope this may help anyone out there, its worth a shot either way
