cd not recognised in cd drive

WXP user. Have CDRW drive, and DVDrom drive. Recently, the CDRW drive wont
recognise a cd when inserted, and I dont get the window opening - what do you
want to do with this cd? If I double click the drive, I get a blank explorer
window.

I don't think this is a Windows Update problem. One of the other MS
newsgroups - maybe an XP hardware group - is more likely to be able to help
