CD not reconized

Dell Inspiron 530S
Vista Version 6.0 Build 6001:SP1

My cd's (music, games, etc) are no longer reconized. If I insert one, it
may just spin and spin to where is will not stop or will not spin at all. I
had Webroot but uninstall the crap program because it would never update. I
am not getting any type of error that I know of. Does anyone know what to
beside throwing this computer away?

PS when I went to spell check this message I get the following message

"This language is no longer available for spell checking. Please select
another in the spelling options dialog."

Try to replace the IDE cabel or the drive itself, so that you're sure if it's
not a hardware error.

I found my receipt when I purchased the computer. I did buy the extended
warranty. If it a drive failure it will be replaced for free. If it is
software issue $130.00 to fix it. I told the geek squad if it is software
not to fix it because I can at least take it back to factory standards my
self for free. Thanks for your help.
