Hi Fatman,

Not sure. Are you doing anything when this happens? You can turn off
AutoPlay to usually stop this. See this tutorial for how.

Fatman,

Do you have anything in the drive when this happens? If so, remove it
and see if it helps.

Fatman

You can check these to see if they may be the problem

1. Run a very thorough Virus scan to make sure you do not have one.
There are some out there that will do this

2. Check the CD/DVD drive's tray open/close push button. Make sure i
is not stuck and still has a slight click when you press it

3. Check the drive data and power cables to make sure that they ar
connected properly to the drive and motherboard

4. You may have a defective CD/DVD drive. If you have a spare old on
laying around, try replacing it with that one as a test

5. Have you add anyone do a "Remote Assistance" connection with you?
had folks report back that it was their friends messing with the
through a remote connection. You would of had to set this up with the
for them to be able to connect to your computer like that the firs
time

Hope this helps

no change. It will happen repeatedly for a short time then only occaisionally.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like you may have a defective CD/DVD
drive. If you have another one, or can borrow one, plug it in instead
to test if it works like it should. If it does, then you know it is the
CD/DVD drive that is the problem.
