CD-RW format problem

tried formatting a Memorex CD-RW disc this a.m. and after waiting,
waiting, waiting........got error msg that msw couldn't complete the
format. Anyone know how, why, etc., like what to do now? Thanks in
advance.

Why are you trying to format the disc? I can't remember the last time
I did that... unless it was when I was using InCD so I could just copy
files to the disc as if it were a floppy.

If you can format another CD-RW, use the first for a coaster.

As you may see from other replies, most of the people here do not bother to
format CD-RW. This is because such disks are generally not readable in
set-top boxes like CD/DVD players. Instead, we use freeware that can burn a
CD or DVD or an ISO image from the folder you specify. One such freeware is
'imgburn' http://www.imgburn.com/

If you are re-writing to it , queue what you want to write , and the
software "should" ask if you want to format .
