CD-RW not recognized as a recordable device by Windows XP-SP2

My Itunes software, and "Drag & Drop" DVD software continues to recognize
that my CD-RW is a recordable device, and I am able to continue to use these
to write data. XP, and accordingly, Windows Media Player 10, does not. This
problem has only occured recently, and with no hardware changes.

I tried doing the registry changes recomended (article ID- 316529). and that
restored the "recording tab", in the drive's profile, but the recording
function of this drive is still not usable within Windows, or Media Player.

I will continue to use the other software, to write data, but miss the
convenience of writing data directly out of XP.
