CD track info

how can i get the album and track info to appear on a cd that i burn on media
player 10 for playback on a CD player that shows text info

You mean like a "Mix CD"? There is no valid metadata that WMP can get for
those.

I suggest you search for "CD-Text" and "Enhanced CD" specifications, and make
sure whatever you burn to the CD has those types of features (I think CD-Text
is the significant one)

For whatever bizarre reason, WMP cannot burn cds with cd text. Use Realplayer
for that. It works great.

Windows Media Player 11 >>is indeed<< writing CD text when I burn.... but
it's not showing it on another computer when I play.

(I know this because another utility (HACP) is showing the CD text that was
written by WMP 11.)
((Just in case it was pertinent, I already turned on "Lyrics, Captions, and
Subtitles" under the Play menu, and I already turned on "Show local captions
when present" under Tools/Options/Security.))

I've heard there is an ADD_ON for WMP to make it show the CD text...
Anybody know the add-on, and and how do I get it?

The add-on you're referring to is WMPCDText:

However, WMP can't write CD-Text (and I don't know of anything that adds
this functionality), so it's very likely that you're seeing something
different than CD-Text here.

WMP doesn't burn CDText. I have this conversation with XXX every YYY and
the conversation is always a simple Nope. Sorry. =\

WMP does maintain basic knowledge of the discs it burned, though, so the
machine it was burnt *from* can still show you the basic metadata for that
burnt CD. That data will not show up elsewhere, though - but another
application can use the acoustic fingerprint to identify any given track,
thus giving you the semblence of CDText. =)
