CF reader stopped working after windows update

After reformatting my computer, but before I finished updating windows XP
Professional, I could load pictures onto my computer from my SanDisk USB 2.0
Compact Flash reader. After I finished the windows updates, including service
pack 2, the pictures no longer load correctly. I can see that the pictures
are there but can't load them onto my computer. The only error message is
when it fails to load; "1/0 device error". Can I roll back some of the
windows updates without reinstalling windows? Is there another possible
solution. All of my other USB devices such as my mouse, headphones, and
printer... work fine. Disconnecting them does not affect the problem.

This is not a reply however I too am hoping that someone out there can tell
me what the issue is regarding the CF card. I loaded updates Saturday July
17th for my windows software windows 98SE and subsequently have been unable
to download jpegs from my camera. a Nikon. I can "see" both the mass
staorage drive and the usb drive through windows explorer however the pics
will not download. I receive an error message that tells me that there is no
CF card in the camera. Please help
