The date and time was 7/3/2008 2:01 PM, and on a whim, Kram pounded out

Hi Mark,

One issue on Windows Vista is how icons are displayed. Most old icons
are 32x32 pixels in size. Some programs have a higher resolution 48x48
version. But on Windows Vista, unless there's a 256x256 version, the
lower resolution version is displayed in it native size which can look
weird, especially on the Desktop.

Right click on the desktop and select 'Personalize' from the menu.
On the left side of the next window, select 'Change Desktop Icons'.
Select the Vista icon you would like to change.
Click the 'Change Icon' button to view selections.
You can also browse any file or folders you have downloaded icons to.
Select the icon and your new icon should be visible.

If you need more, I've heard this program works well:

Thanks for the reply but that only works for "desktop" icons or folders.
Mine problem is changing a program icon, in my case Acrobat Reader
(8.1.2 & 9) keeps defaulting to an ugly white and red icon so that any
pdf I create shows up in any directory as a weird white & red icon.
