Hello there.

Im trying to change my email, and was wondering how long i had to wait, this
has taken 2days now..
is it normal to take this long?

and if so, anyway to speed it up?

problem:
i seem to be offline to everyone even with status: online
everybody seems to be offline to me.

Greetings,

This feature does not work correctly and it can take a few days or just will not work at all.
However, if you want to wait at least one more day just to be sure it doesn't go through,
what I'd suggest you do is switch it back to the original address, sign back in to make sure
everyone is okay (they'll all appear online again too), and then repeat the process to change
it to the address of your choosing.

Note that during the changing process to the new one (when going back to the old one you
don't need to wait) you should not be online and should not sign in for at least a few days.
If you do sign in during the changing process, it can trigger it not to go through and you
end up with a contact list of offline contacts, as you've already experienced.

unbelievable and unprofessional to have a service up and running when you
know there is a problem with it.
why haven't this service been taken down and 'repaired' ?

Hi,

There's been issues with this since the feature debuted, but it's only this past year that
it's gotten really bad. Although I've never been able to speak to anyone one-on-one at
Windows Live ID, I've been assured they are "aware" of the issue.

Apparently the vast majority of requests do go through successfully (again, so I've heard).

Hi Jonathan,

I would like to change my (email address) live id for my messenger too, and i googled many posts and know that there is problem of "migrating / changing" email address. Yet coz I can't forward my emails from hotmail to another domains, so I still want to have a try.

And I can't find the new way to change the email address as i mentioned above, and so would you mind of telling me the steps / URL showing the steps? Is it required to hold on several days after changing the email address for live id (not signing in etc) to complete the migration / increase the chance of success?

Thanks again for your help!

Best Regards,
Kevin
