How to change a file's owner?

This Vista permission business occasionally drives me nuts! I have a file that is owned by "Administrators" and even though I am member of group Administrators I can not delete that darn file. Apparently those file's permissions are set such only "Trusted Installers" do have special permissions.

How can I modify that? How do I take ownership of that file, so that I can erase it?

Michael

Hello Michael,

This tutorial will help show you how to take ownership of a item.

If you are using the 32-bit Vista, then the free program "Unlocker" may
help you delete that file as well.

'UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB'

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Keep in mind that before using Unlocker you should close any
applications which write data, and after using it you should reboot
immediately to avoid potential corruption of any file open on the system
at the time when Unlocker was used.

This is a powerful tool, directly manipulating file handles should not
be done lightly.
