Change "Mail to protocol" to Incredimail

Hello,
I'm trying to change the default "Mail to protocol" in IE7 to another email
program, namely Incredimail. I highlight the category and the only option
given in MOutlook and no possibility to change.
Any help here?

Once Incredimail is installed, it should show as a choice. But if you use
only the HTTP version, it is not installed locally and will not appear as a
choice.

Every time I open IncrediMail it asks me if I want to use my accounts as the
default mail server. Doesn't your IncrediMail offer the same option?
IncrediMail will then change your Windows Mail to IncrediMail. Since I only
use IncrediMail for stationery and e-cards, I have never switched accounts.

I'm not using the HTTP version (is this "webmail") version of Incredimail...
I bought the program years ago and keep updating.
As far as the little window that pops up asking me if I want to make
Incredimail "default", yes - it pops up and I answer "yes" each and every
time. Because then it is followed by this message:
[[You need to have Administrator or Power User privileges in order to set
Incredimail as your default e-mail client. For assistance, contact your
system administrator. OK ]]
I tried disabling UAC and even specified with DEP that I want Incredimail to
be allowed. I've also disabled DEP. When UAC is disabled, the program is
blocked. When it's enabled and DEP specifies Incredimail - well, that was
working unitl today when I tried disabling UAC. Now, the only way I can get
Incredimail to boot up is to disable DEP.
Any more ideas???? Help!

I'd contact Incredimail and see if they have any suggestions.
I don't use it myself, so I have no first hand experience.
But if you uninstalled it, then right clicked the 'install.exe' file and
select run as administrator...it 'might' work.
Vista doesn't believe an administrator is an administrator.
In Vista an admin account only means that you can give a program permission
to run after answering the Nanny (UAC) multiple times, but their 'improved
security and handholding wizard' (aka UAC) doesn't work very well.
Unless Incredimail had built a version with specific workarounds to Vista's
Na Na Na na NA software, you may have trouble getting it to work.

Okay, well I didn't totally reinstall because (for some reason that may or
may not be related to this issue) I am not able to export my settings
(emails, etc.) and therefore save them. However, your advice got me to
thinking that I most likely could install an upgrade, even tho I didn't need
one.
I downloaded the Incredimail upgrade and saved it to my desktop. From there
I right-clicked and chose "Run as Administrator" to re-install it. The
program started up and asked me if it should become default and I (for the
umpteenth time) clicked yes, fully expecting to see the next familiar window
stating that I needed to be the Administrator. NOPE. It didn't show and
Incredimail started right up! Hallelujah!
I have yet to determine if it has effected a system-wide default setting but
I'm already happy with this development. Thanks, NOT ME, and the others.

i know this is not related to much going on here, but i am new to this and
wonder if anyone has had this problem with Incredimail Letter Creator? my
incredimail was working hard before the new Vista version came out, so, when
the new build came out, i thought it was the thing to do... wrong... now i
have the new Vista compatible IM, and i cannot add fonts to my Letter
Creator, no matter what i do... i have worked on this thing till i am about
ready to boot Vista and get XP back, as there was not all this hassle ... any
help will be greatly appreciated... also... i should add that i cannot do a
restore on this new PC... its a HP Pavilion nd they wont talk to me either...
