How to change passwords in Windows Vista

Until recently I have been getting assistance with my Windows Vista
Ultimate through an IM connection, with a file sharing port open
between us. I would now like to change the passwords and close all
access ports to my machine. How do I go about doing that?

Petter Nordahl-Hagen's Offline NT Password & Registry Editor

This is absolutely one of the best free tools to reset the administrator
password and gain access that I have ever used. It modifies the encrypted
password in the registry's SAM file allowing you access to the account in
Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista systems.

There is an image file to create a bootable floppy disk or bootable CD to
modify the admin password and access NTFS partitions. You do not need to
know the old password to set a new one. It will also offer to unlock
disabled or locked user accounts (a very helpful feature). The program was
just updated on April 9, 2007 to include Vista support.

administrator password. A great site for doing this is loginrecovery.com.
Basically, you download a small program to extract the password from the
computer, then you submit the encrypted password file to their site and they
will recover the lost password. Of course, you need a computer with Internet

With this option, the administrator password is not changed so you wont lose

There is absolutely no reason to use NTpasswd to change passwords from
within Vista!

The OP can get into Vista. S/he only wants to change user passwords.

To the OP: change your user passwords from the User Accounts applet in
Control Panel. If you are still not sure how to do this from looking at
that applet, use Vista's Help. Use "change password" as your search term.

Refer to whatever IM program's help you are using for how to change your
password there.

Change whether your machine will accept remote control from the Windows
Firewall applet. Again, refer to Vista's Help for how to do that. Use
"disable remote control" or the like for your search term.

If you are using a third-party firewall, refer to its help for how to
configure it.

I tryed to install the ISO image file to a bootable CD but I just end up
booting to PC dos. How do you transfer the image file to the CD. When I do
it I just end up having the .ISO file on the CD.
I use NTI CD&DVD-Maker version 7.7.0.1501.

Look in the burner software Help file for instruction on burning an ISO. If
there isn't any mention of such a task, you'll need to find better software.
