Change the way users log on or off

Hello,

In Win XP there was a setting in User Accounts that was called "change the
way users log on or off" where, on a re-start, you could have all PC users
listed or only the last logged on user.

Is there a similar setting in Vista?

Yes, but depending on the version of Vista you have these settings are
enabled through the registry or the Group Policy Editor.

Warning: Before you start making changes associated with the logon screen,
especially hiding accounts, it is very easy to effectively lock yourself out
of the system if you hide the wrong accounts.

I have Vista Ultimate and was able to invoke the Group Policy editor and
install the Groups / Users snap-in.
I will fool around with it and see how badly I can muck things up.

It just strikes me as very odd why they (Microsoft) would remove this
feature.

There is a feature that allows you to select a default user to log onto.
From there you could switch to another user when desired. It is the same as
XP had.

Type
control userpasswords2
into the Start Search box and press enter to bring up the user accounts
dialog
In the User Accounts dialog, under the Users tab, select the particular user
you want, then
clear the checkbox for "Users must enter a user name ..."
Press Apply and a dialog will ask for the password of the user you selected.
OK OK and you've done.
