How do you select the screen saver that is used BEFORE login occurs?
What "user" is this set for?

Dave (or others):

Followup issue. I changed the reg settings for the .default user to
match those that were there for my when I was normally logged in.

The screen saver changed, but it did not us the text I supplied. I
figured I must have messed up one of the reg key as I had manually
copied the values. So, I exported the key from the logged in user,
edited the numeric "name" of the user in the reg key to be .default,
and imported the key back into the registry.

It did not work. The marquee still displays the default "Your text
here". Any thoughts on why it might not be picking up on the text
value?

Here's the actual key I exported, tweaked, then imported:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_USERS\.default\Control Panel\Screen Saver.Marquee]
"BackgroundColor"="0 0 128"
"CharSet"="0"
"Font"="Tahoma"
"Mode"="1"
"Size"="48"
"Speed"="11"
"Text"="this is the text"
"TextColor"="192 192 192"
"Attributes"="00010"

Any chance there's another (second) user profile involved? Obviously
it used part of .default...

I don't think there was an intention for us to hack \default user hive in
this manner.
