How to Change Email Handlers

I am having to use RoadRunner WebMail (no problem sending or receiving emails)
instead of Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail because I can't send emails
through the WM or WLM email handlers. I keep getting errors 10053 and/or
11003. I have been unable to resolve this on my own and believe me I tried
everything I could think of.

I cannot tell you how many forums and sites that I have been on and followed
the instructions to the letter. All my ports & servers are correct but, the
email will still not go through. I can receive, I just can't send.

I have sent an email to Mcrosoft Support - but, you know how that is. This
has been going on for over 1-1/2 weeks. and they have only sent me one set
of instructions (the same information that I found on forums and sites) and I
again followed their instructions to make sure that I had everything right.
After my last email to MS, I still do not have an answer to resolve the issue.
All the information such as ports are correct, all servers are correct, and
everything is checked as it should be.

I have a cattery website that has my email address as a way to contact me
regarding adopting my kittens but, when I tested the email address to tries
to go to Windows Mail (because I delete WLM), but, I am getting the same
errors for some reason.

Is there a way to make RR Webmail my email handler instead of Windows Mail?
I went through all the information on RR's site and even followed the
instructions for Outlook Express but, it wouldn't work under those
instructions. I would greatly appreciate any help that you could give me. I
am at a lost as to what to do now.

Thank you

P.S. - I have to have this email working - ASAP. I have lost several sales,
totally over $3,000 because I could not send out emails to answer the
adoptees.

"Is there a way to make RR Webmail my email handler instead of Windows

Yes, you just open up the webmail page and go to town. If your talking about
your webmail page opening up when you click on an email link I don't believe
it's possible.

If you wish to use Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail, try to send another
email message and tell us the entire error message. Right-click on the
error message, select Copy, then paste it into a reply here.

And, are you using your computer at home, connected to RR when this happens?

David - I am not sure if I explained it right - but . . . . I have a website
that has an hyperlinked email address that links back to me for messages from
potential clients. It worked correctly for years. Now, when I go to my site
on the Net and click on the underlined email link and send a test email to Me,
the message will go through Windows Mail and I get an error message of 10053
or, 11003 and then when I check my emails through RR WebMail, I get message
saying that the email was undeliverable. Now - do you understand?

What I want the messages to do is to go to RR WebMail and NEVER to Windows
Mail. I do not want to use Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail until the issue
with the fact that I can't send messages (I can receive them) through Windows
Maill or Windows Live Mail without getting an error message of 10053 or 11003
saying "go to your "sent" folder and re-send the message.

I want RoadRunner WebMail to be my default email handler and not Windows Mail
or Windows Live Mail. Can I change the default Windows Mail handler to RR
WebMail?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

It might be useful if you would have given the URL to your web site
then somebody might be inclined to look at that web site's source code
and see what if anything is wrong with the HTML markup that might be
preventing proper email execution. Did you create the web site
yourself or pay to have it done?

In order for a email link to work correctly from a web page you need:

1. provide a valid and functioning email address
2. no syntax errors in the HTML on the web page that contains the link
3. do TESTING, by sending yourself emails using your web site BEFORE
you go public with your web site.

Email doesn't go to some client (Windows Mail) it goes to what ever
server your ISP told you to setup your account on. In effect it is
just like the postal service. They deliver the mail to your mailbox,
but it your job to GO to your mail box and retrieve the mail. So your
problem is you are either not providing a proper email address for
people to send email to or YOU are not retrieving the email because of
some miss configuration you've made. If there is nothing wrong with
the syntax you very well may have a bunch of emails sitting and
waiting for you at your ISP and you simply don't know how to ret rive
it so you can read it.

I see. When you click on a mailto: link on a webpage, you want IE to open
at the RR webmail site. I don't know of any way to do that. Gmail and
Yahoo have a way to do that with their add-on toolbars.

However, that should not prevent you from receiving email from your
customers. When they click on the mailto: link on your website, it will
open their default email program, and they can send you email (unless they
also wish to use RR webmail, which is highly unlikely).

To read and send your email, just use IE7 and go to the RR webmail site.

I would rather use Windows Live Mail. I am enclosing a copy of the message I
get
when I try to send email through WLM.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity.

Subject 'Re: SRX1075679732ID'
Server: 'smtp-server.bham.rr.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10053

Frank,

I have email turned off - no resolution. I do not have McAfee and I deleted
Norton and removed all its components. I do not have Trend either.
