Hi all,
I have used group polices to somehow disable the users from changing file
types. Now I need the users to be able to change an old file type but it is
grayed out.
I cannot find where I have disabled it. I do have control panel disabled.
The users can see under tools the folder options but file types are grayed
out for them to change. Can someone tell we where to look in group polices
to correct this/
Thanks in advance,
Sher

Hello Sher,

On a client a machine where the policy is active run gpresult /v to see the
applied GPOs, now you can check them for the settings.

Best regards

Thanks, I will check that. I found information on the gp that is suppose to
correct the problem.
user configuration|Administrative Templates|Windows Components|Windows
Explorer. Double click Removes the folder options menu item from the Tools
menu.
Set it to Not configured.
I tried the above even tried it with disabled, but still the change options
are grayed out.

Could this have anything to do with users not having admin rights to
workstation?
Just trying to look at everything becuase as an administrator I can change
the file types but I also do not run the gp that the users get.

OK, I found the problem. I moved the user to a non-restricted gp and it
still was grayed out. Then I made the user a member of the admin group on
the workstation. This allowed the user to change the file types. Then I
removed him from the admin group.
