How to Backup Windows Live Mail Accounts, Contacts and Messages
http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!174.entry

On Win7
Install WLM
Windows Live Essentials Availability
http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!424.entry
- download the full installer version(the above url contains a link for the full version under Links or manual method in
Comments step 5 - item 1 through 4)

Open WLM, ignore the prompt to create or signup with a Live ID
1. Import accounts
2. Import contacts (Note: Live ID's contacts are stored online, thus if present in the web UI(contacts.live.com) no import is
necessary...logon with Live ID to Windows Live in WLM and sync, repeat for each Live ID)
3. Import Messages

As an alternate to the procedure mentioned by ...winston,
you can use this free third party utility:

http://www.staticbackup.com/windows-live-mail-backup/
http://www.staticbackup.com/products.htm#swmbf

It backs up all aspects of Windows Live Mail, including accounts,
settings, rules, etc.

It does not transfer contacts, but if you sign in with a Live ID, the
contacts are backed up online, so an automatic re-sync will restore
the contacts in your Win7 copy of Windows Live Mail.
