Hello,
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bits installed on my computer. Along with
installing this, I also installed tons of drivers etc. however I do not need
all of them at the start of every boot. So I wanted to delete them from the
startup list, but this is not possible.
When I go to Windows Defender > Launch programs, and click on the programs I
want to disable from launching along with Windows, the options to Delete or
Disable go grey.
What can I do?

As far as Defender goes, you have to run defender as the default
"Administrator" to change all those entries that say "Startup Type:
Registry: Local Machine" You can change those entries that are from
..."Current User"
That account is disabled by default. In Ultimate there is a checkbox for
enable. Run the command 'control userpasswords2'.
You will also see the path ('Location') to the registry keys of the apps in
Defender/Software Explorer. Those Values could be deleted. Running MSCONFIG
could show you most of them on its Startup tab.

How are you deciding which drivers you want to load ?
Where do you get the idea that drivers are listed in the startup group ?
..

Mark, thanks for the reply, I will try that asap.

By drivers I mean things such as Logitech Webcam driver, CCC, Realtek HD
Audio monitor etc. The things will work without having them, but those
programs are just there to help setting the settings right. Once that is
done, I don't need them to launch along with Windows.

Gamesua,

Open Windows Defender, click on Tools and then click on Software
Explorer. You must then click on the "Show for all users" button on the
bottom left. This will enable the Disable button. When you select the
entries and click on the Disable button you are only stopping them from
running at bootup. You will still be able to use the programs by going to
the Start menu. Don't delete them, only disable them.
