Charge/Fee to use Messengert ?

Hi:

Is there a charge/fee to use Windows Live Messenger ?
Microsoft's web page states that the software download is free,
but they mention "fees" in the "agreement", and are very
unclear about the details.

Greetings Dale,

In some locales, "premium" emoticons/winks are available for a fee and/or SMSs are billed.
Additionally, Windows Live Call (PC to Phone) requires payment.

Beyond that, Messenger is ad-supported and free.
