I have a vista home installed on my acer laptop
I have been pestered by my computer to check for errors on my externa
1TB hdd and I finally left it alone when my laptop booted

I noticed when I woke up the next day that it had truncated some file
and tried to fix some. Now some files are either missing or changed (th
CRC32 does not match)

Is there a way to look for the check disk log
I have already looked in event viewer for chkdsk and winini

please help, I dont want to go through every file checking the CRC3

much appreciated

If you've examined the chkdsk + wininit Event Viewer information, then I
think that's pretty much it. chkdsk has always been a little bit of blackbox
in terms of what it's up to.

One thing you could do would be to examine the repair files (with .chk
extension). Open them up in wordpad or a hex editor and look for strings.
You can often work out from this what the original files were from that
information.
