If you've examined the chkdsk + wininit Event Viewer information, then I
think that's pretty much it. chkdsk has always been a little bit of blackbox
in terms of what it's up to.
One thing you could do would be to examine the repair files (with .chk
extension). Open them up in wordpad or a hex editor and look for strings.
You can often work out from this what the original files were from that
information.
